Have you ever purchased a mobile phone from a shop only to be asked that awkward question by the sales staff:
Would you like to include some mobile phone insurance with you new phone, it will cover you for theft and damage and save you having to find the money to replace it if something was to happen to it?
All of a sudden you get that awkward feeling come over you. You have just agreed to a £35.00 per month contract for the next 48 months, which was probably a little more than you wanted to pay and now the sales assistant is trying to get another £8 per month from you for their insurance plan.
It’s a real 50/50 spur of the moment decision for most people, many people must just flip an imaginary coin inside their head and come up with a yes or no answer. More often than not, the store sales staff cannot really give you any details about the policy other than the monthly cost and the excess fee, if you ask them for a copy of the terms and conditions, you will 9 times out of ten find they do not have this information to hand.
Not checking the terms and conditions to any potential insurance product is not a good idea, as you will want to check the small print so you are aware of just what is or is not covered.
You do not have to rush into purchasing mobile phone insurance at the time of purchase, why not return home and carry out a mobile phone insurance comparison and check if you can find a better policy for your new handset. If you are planning on purchasing a new phone in the near future, you can always compare insurance policies in advance.
